Program Overview

This webinar is an overview of key 2008 changes to the Stark regulations affecting physician-hospital relationships including:“ Stand in the shoes;” Per-click and percentage compensation; and "Under arrangements.” Case studies will be available to illustrate the practical effect of changes. This program will also focus on employment of physicians by hospital systems. Use of a separate entity to employ physicians, analysis of subsidy payments from hospital entity to system affiliate, and fair market value and “ commercial reasonableness” standards will be addressed.

FACULTY

Rob Keenan advises health systems, hospitals, pharmacy benefit management companies, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, physicians and physician organizations, and managed care organizations on a wide variety of federal and state regulatory matters, including health information privacy, fraud and abuse, reimbursement, certificate of need, licensure and managed care/insurance issues. Mr. Keenan also represents health industry clients in various transactional matters, including healthcare regulatory due diligence in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures between healthcare providers, managed care contracting, and general contracting. Mr. Keenan is included in the most recent editions of The Best Lawyers In America and in the Chambers USA Client’s Guide to American’s Leading Lawyers for Business, and was named a 2008 Georgia Super Lawyer. He graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1988.
