HHS Region Eight Meeting

This week, MHA had the opportunity to join hospital preparedness leaders from across the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Region 8.

The meeting was hosted by Montana DPHHS and MHA. The states included North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. Meeting participants included state departments of health within the region as well as leadership from HHS and the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR).

MHA has a strong and deep relationship with DPHHS and serves as its partner in providing preparedness resources across our state. MHA was given the opportunity to share with others the success of our collaboration, and the gains we have made in hospital preparedness, and coalition development across Montana.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost three years since our state’s Healthcare Preparedness Program was deeply engaged in our battle against COVID-19. Led by MHA’s Cindee McKee, the HPP team worked to provide resources to our hospitals, assist with staffing needs, support data reporting, and stand up regional surge planning.

The accomplishments we achieved could not have been done without the partnership with our state department of health and federal agencies.

Serving as an advocate and convener for our members is the central role of MHA.  We’re proud of the work we’re doing together with DPHHS, and look forward to further strengthening our relationship, and the opportunities to improve health and healthcare in Montana.
