Protect Patients from Self-Harm in Clinical Settings

Join us for a webinar focused on suicide prevention and ligature risk reduction in healthcare settings, where timely recognition and patient safety are critical.

Even in structured clinical environments, patients experiencing suicidal ideation or acute distress may be at risk without early identification and appropriate safeguards. This training provides practical tools to recognize warning signs, respond effectively, and support prevention efforts across inpatient units, emergency departments, and critical access hospitals.

Participants will also learn to identify environmental ligature hazards and understand how the physical environment can unintentionally contribute to risk, along with practical strategies to improve safety and communication among care teams.

Key Topics:

  • CMS Conditions of Participation requirements for suicide prevention and ligature risk mitigation
  • Updated interpretive guidance related to patient rights and physical environment safety
  • Identification and management of ligature risks in clinical settings
  • Suicide risk screening, assessment, and escalation protocols
  • Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals related to behavioral health and patient safety
  • Survey readiness strategies, including documentation, training, and environmental rounding practices
