  • Alternative: Missoula Montana Airport (MSO). It is a 2.5 hour drive from Missoula to Whitefish. A rental car will be required. For the enterprising traveler, or for those who plan to stay beyond the conference dates, MSO is another option.

We are providing the following agenda to help you in making your travel plans. Times are approximate and the order may shift.

We encourage you to arrive on Monday, Sept. 14 and depart on Thursday, Sept. 17 in order to experience the entire conference program. (Of course, we’d love to have you arrive earlier and/or stay longer—and have negotiated with the conference hotel to make rooms available at our discounted rates before and after, Sept. 13-17.) Flights can become limited during peak season and for those traveling to/from East Coast destinations; booking early and flying out early in the day often affords the most travel options and connections. For departures, afternoon flight options will be likely very limited for anyone traveling East and hoping to leave after the attending the Wednesday afternoon group tour in Glacier National Park.

Late summer weather in Northwest Montana can be unpredicable. It’s not uncommon for days to be warm (average daytime highs in the mid-70s) and nights to be cold (average nightime lows in the high-30s). Plan to check the local forecast here and pack layers, including a cozy fleece and coat. If you’re planning to enjoy outdoor activities, some outdoor gear items to consider packing include:

  • Backpack
  • Water bottle
  • Rain gear
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Hiking shoes/boots
  • Swimming and/or water gear

We’ll update this section with more recommendations as the agenda, activities and weather forecast is known.
